Zipline in Munnar : Longest Zipline, Price & Ziplining Adventure

To be perfectly honest, I did not expect ziplining Munnar options to become one of the highlights of my trip to this place but somehow it happened anyway. I came here chasing the dream of walking through beautiful tea gardens and watching misty sunrises. Somewhere along the way, a travelling buddy staying at my homestay suggested visiting Munnar zipline options that apparently offered something I could not try elsewhere. My curiosity finally got the better of me and soon enough, I was standing strapped into a harness, looking down on the valley that I was going to fly across.

That turned out to be one of the most exciting adventures I had while on a trip to Munnar. As part of my Things to Do in Munnar, I decided to record all my insights concerning this experience, and the prices, and safety measures, for anyone interested.

Best Places for Ziplining in Munnar

During my trip, I managed to try out more than one spot since a local guide recommended doing that to truly compare and understand what is good and what is not. This is what I found about each place.

1. Eagle’s Flight, Suryanelli

This place was the big one, as Eagle’s Flight claims to offer India’s longest zipline Munnar experience around, which is about 1.8 kilometres and runs across the tea valley close to Suryanelli. As confirmed by the locals, this one is definitely the longest zipline in Munnar and I can see why.

  • After riding a bumpy but really exciting 4×4 jeep through the estate roads, I arrived at the launch pad.
  • My glide took me to a total height of 250 metres, reaching pretty fast speeds.
  • The views from above on the tea plantation were just stunning, something that I was not able to capture using my phone before.

2. Dreamland Adventure Park

A day later, I visited Dreamland Adventure Park which is situated more than six thousand feet above the sea level and turned out to be a completely different experience.

  • Along with the zipline, I also managed to try several other activities offered there and I had a hard time getting off of that mechanical bull ride pretty fast.
  • The basket style zipline allowed me to fly alongside another person through a green forest tunnel.
  • There were many activities included in the entry, so I did not have to pay extra for almost everything I did in the park.

3. High Range Zip Line and Ripple Adventures

On the last day of my trip, I managed to ride at the High Range Zip Line (which locals called that way), followed by the brief stop at Ripple Adventures for a forest trail zipline.

  • Both activities were significantly shorter than Eagle’s Flight, but they were still exciting for adrenaline rush.
  • Ripple Adventures, in particular, had a great forest landscape background.

Why Try Ziplining in Munnar?

There were several reasons that made this experience stand out on my trip, in my opinion.

  • Firstly, there is no way to get such views from the tea estates of Munnar from the ground.
  • The combination of adrenaline rush and scenery made the ride very special compared to other ziplining experiences that I tried.
  • Also, I felt it was a great bucket list activity, and not just another thing to add to the itinerary.

Moreover, it was a good way to have some fun and do something active after a series of more relaxing activities that I did on my previous days in Munnar.

Zipline in Munnar price may vary from season to season, so I would recommend checking current rates with an operator before visiting.

Zipline in Munnar Timings

All operators that I checked worked in similar hours from seven thirty in the morning until noon and then resumed in the late afternoon. Personally, I chose the morning time for the ride at Eagle’s Flight because it was both less crowded and cooler than the afternoon one, and in addition to that, the lighting was better for taking pictures.

How Long Does Ziplining in Munnar Take?

I was very surprised that the ride was relatively short and lasted just about two to three minutes at Eagle’s Flight. However, I spent around two hours altogether because I counted the time of the jeep ride, safety briefing, and waiting for my turn. All other ziplines were significantly shorter. I spent around half an hour including instructions.

Best Time for Ziplining in Munnar

From my personal experience, I think that the best months to visit the place would be those between October and March, when the sky is clear, and the temperature is manageable.

During my visit in December, cool mornings made the trip even more fun. I would advise you to avoid visiting the area in monsoon months, as some operators noted that sometimes heavy rain results in temporary closure of the activity.

How to Book a Zipline in Munnar

I booked my slot at Eagle’s Flight a day in advance via a local travel desk, but after the visit, I realized that online booking was possible too. Here are some recommendations based on my experience:

  • It is better to book a day or two in advance, especially during peak seasons, as slots at Eagle’s Flight filled very quickly when I checked.
  • Make sure to know your weight and age to meet operator requirements.

In case you don’t want to handle logistics yourself, you can use a platform like PlanYourTour and incorporate your zipline booking into a wider Munnar itinerary, just as I did for my second Zipline adventure in Munnar.

Safety Guidelines for Ziplining in Munnar

Before my visit to Eagle’s Flight, I was briefed quite extensively regarding the safety of this experience. Below I will share some of the safety measures and instructions that I was given:

  • Generally, a rider should be at least fifteen years old, and the weight should lie within forty to one hundred twenty kilograms.
  • There is a height limit, approximately four feet.
  • It is mandatory to wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothes that are not baggy. In addition, you have to tie your long hair back.

I was asked about my pre-existing conditions, like high blood pressure and joint problems.

The safety harness was checked twice before the ride.
