After learning the tree’s route, a British engineer found out the route, and he killed him to take credit for it. To get rid of Karinthandan’s soul, a large ficus tree was tied with a heavy chain by the priest; this Tree came to be known as the Chain Tree.

I lived in Munnar; I hired a cab to reach Wayanad; we went via NH85, a journey that takes 8.5 Hours, which is around 308 Km distance from Wayanad. This road trip from Munnar to Wayanad was very exciting due to the weather, which was so pleasant. This Tree is a mysterious landmark nestled in the heart of the Western Ghats. When I reached Chain Tree, I saw a massive, centuries-old Ficus tree that stood like a sentinel, guarding the secrets of Wayanad’s history. Walking around the Chain tree, I know about the spiritual and historical significance to the local community.
